GSJTI LLC is focused on 2nd Stage and "Moving to 2nd Stage Businesses. According to the Edward Lowe Foundation, 2nd Stage companies are: " growth-oriented firms that have moved beyond startup but haven’t yet reached maturity. "
The ideal client moving to 2nd Stage will have between 5 and 10 employees and a minimum of two years of financial statements (Balance Sheets, and Income Statements)
Furthermore, 2nd Stage Companies have 10-99 employees and generate between $1 million and $50 million in annual revenue. Because of the impact of rural business in Missouri, the SBDC program adopted a revenue range of between $750,000 and $50 million. A second criteria required by the Lowe Foundation is that a Second-Stage company serves or has the capacity to serve external markets and possibly global markets.
Greg Tucker served as the State Director for the Missouri Small Business Development Centers, (SBDC), as Education Director for the Missouri Extension Business Develop Programs, and was a founder and former co-director of the Mizzou Venture Mentoring Service (Mizzou VMS), a community mentoring program patterned after the MIT model. He recently retired after after nearly 23 years with the University of Missouri, serving one year as administrative consultant to the Missouri SBDC.
Greg has developed customized business programs for Chiropractors, Optometrists, Construction Contractors and Childcare Providers.
He worked in the private sector in transportation, manufacturing, and marketing for 20 years and, with his family, started three businesses before joining the University of Missouri Business Development Programs in 2000 as a business specialist in St. Louis County.
Greg worked in the St. Louis Regional SBDC for 14 years, before moving to Columbia as the associate state director in 2014, moving into the role of state director in 2016.
He has served as a business mentor in the National NSF Innovation Corps Program in the San Francisco Bay Area Node with a group of MU Physics Professors in early 2016. He also served different roles in the Innovation Corp Program at The University of Missouri Science and Technology program for several years.
Greg also served as an Examiner for the Excellence in Missouri Foundation’s Missouri Quality Award for five years, serving as a Team Lead on two applications and led a site visit.
His professional certifications include Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP), and he was a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP). Greg has a B.S. in Business from the University of Tennessee and an M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Il.
Greg is a private pilot, a certified NAUI scuba divemaster, a third-dan (degree) black belt in Taekwondo and is an avid motorcyclist and golfer.
